My Style Story
I’ve been in love with wardrobe since I was 5 years old. I was totally inspired by my grandma, fashion icon and classic-chic superstar. She exuded timeless style. (More about her later.) Here’s a timeline of my lifelong love affair with fashion:
Age 5: My earliest memory of wardrobe – a love of scarves. Not your ordinary dress-up. A passion for fashion begins.
Age 14: I went to boarding school in the east coast. Enter my love of preppy classics.
Age 16: Ordered a (horrific) pair of fur leg warmers from Neiman Marcus. I learned that trends are trends for a reason and it’s best to only purchase what works best for your body: Accentuate, fit, and flatter.
Age 18: Worked for an apparel representative. My favorite part of the job? Styling mannequins. My first (albeit inanimate) clients.
Age 24: For the first time ever, I spent time with my grandma in her collection-filled museum of a closet. Over half a century of gorgeous wardrobe. She told me stories of finding a three-piece suit throughout Paris. It. was. bliss.
Age 21: Realized I could make a career out of my passion. Began my very own styling practice. Today: All about the classics. When my grandma passed away, I inherited her timeless, beautiful wardrobe. Everyday I wear one of her classic pieces from 30 years ago, I smile. It looks straight off the fall runway.
I tell you all this to introduce you to my core style philosophy: Classic essentials are timeless, magical, and lead to outfit-driven wardrobes.
